Willis Towers Watson is a leading global professional services company that helps organizations improve performance through effective people, risk and financial management. With 16,000 associates around the world, they offer consulting, technology and solutions in the areas of benefits, talent management, rewards, and risk and capital management. Fortune has included Willis Towers Watson on its list of the World’s Most Admired Companies the past four straight years (2012-15).

The Challenge

As competition increases, benefits (from stock options to healthcare to retirement accounts) are an important and complex tool to attract and keep talented employees. Willis Towers Watson needs to provide highly customized and confidential benefit summary booklets in an accurate and attractive manner to a number of their clients, including to the employees of the Arizona Public Service Company (APS), the largest electric utility in the state.

“This is highly confidential information that must be kept secured,” notes Allis Wong, The Pace Group’s Digital + Data Specialist. “It is vital that the data displays accurately and that there are no missing or extra rows in the tables throughout the booklet.”

The Work

Allis works closely with both graphic designers and database administrators to map the numerous variable data fields to the appropriate places in the layout. This includes writing complex “If Then Else” statements to vary the sections of copy, tables, charts and images to their groups.

To ensure the security of the information, The Pace Group, led by Director, Production Services Mark Hoch, developed and follows our documented and vetted Data Security standards. Data is transmitted via secure FTP and is physically and electronically isolated throughout the data handling process to provide both Willis Towers Watson and APS with the certainty that their data is always kept in the strictest confidence.

After a thorough and extensive QA and proofing process, the booklets are produced by The Pace Group’s veteran team of digital and lithographic print specialists and shipped to Willis Towers Watson for a final inspection.

Bob Bennitt, The Pace Group’s Principal and also the Senior Account Executive for the client, says “Clients trust Willis Towers Watson to take care of their employees. So our commitment to quality and security must extend beyond our client to theirs as well.”
